"Make Your Own Pizza"

I was not there because I had a cold I was sure nobody else wanted... But I hear the pizza was good and with a variety of all the stuff to put on those pizzas it had to be.  This is a really fun way to get your family or friends involved if you have a batch of them over sometimes.  A good time was had by all and there is never a shortage of conversation with us ladies...  Sorry I missed it....

Thank you Cheryl for opening up your home for the fun!!

Gals of Southwest Corvettes

Hi gals,
We know we all meet because the “man in our life” has a Vette, and they wanted to join SWC.  We feel great because they want us along.  Or you are one of those very intelligent women who are smart enough to own one yourselves.  We all enjoy talking and going places to visit or eat.  But a thought came to Diane Prior and I while at the Noice’s Christmas party.

We see each other monthly but have little time to really get to know each other and possibly find a common interest.  Maybe some of us would like a more “gal bonding experience”.  A chance to step out and do things together that we like (aside from riding in the Vettes) and maybe even try something new.

We brain-stormed, with Debbie Miller, the following ideas and we are open to all suggestions you might come up with.  Sooooo, please write your name on this questionnaire and answer as simply as possible. Diane will compile the information and we will see if we can come up with some things for the “SWC gals” to do – on our own.  We will also inform you if there are others with similar interests that you might want to know about, even if there are only a couple of you.

Make sure you write your name and put your availability for day(s) and time for some of the suggestions.  Circle all areas you’re interested in or are willing to try.  So let’s have fun getting to know each other on a different level.

SWC Gals -  Saturday, May 31, 2008

We got together at Jan Hayes house.  There were 10 of us...
Tea was served first.  Great selection from Jan's stash...
We had a fantastic Ruben soup from Jan.
A pretty darn good natural all organic from my garden salad along with pretty eatable pansies....
Diane Prior made the yummy brownies... The german chocolate ones will be on the recipe corner....
Sharon Shulby made the fudge --- you can see her at work in one of the photos below.
Fun how to cook lesson - Cooking Klutz herself - Pat Malley brought pretzel dough.  We made them there and boy are they good warm with melted butter and cinnamon and sugar on them...  Recipe in the recipe corner...

All this was served at Jan's dinning room table with her beautiful china that she treasures so much.  She was very happy to use all of her pieces for this event.  Those kind of things usually don't get used, but it was so pretty to see the table all set up and it makes you feel pretty special that we got to use "THE GOOD CHINA" .....

Come out for the next event - we have such a good time talking and eating, eating, eating.....

Cooking Klutz’s - Saturday March 29, 2008

That is what Pat Malley named our group…  There were 8 of us there…  Pat and I were the token klutz’s for sure….  We had a great time talking and cooking and eating. Thank you Cheryl Cartwright for the wonderful tuna and egg sandwiches.  Thank you Lyn Landers for the delicious Ginger Pumpkin Soup – which by the way is on this site under Recipe Corner….  It was great.  I made the Crème Brulee, which sounds like it would be hard to make, but not that difficult…  That recipe will be on the site shortly…  Pat Malley made lemon bars, but we were so full from everything else, we all took them home with us…   Pat will be submitting that one for the site also…

Our next gathering will be at Jan Hayes house in May.  Date to be posted and announced at the club meeting shortly….

Vintage Tea Leaf – Saturday Feb. 2, 2008

We had such a great time.  There were 8 of us.  We set around 2 tables in a very vintage looking little tea room.  We sampled about 8 different teas.  Most we liked, a couple I think we could have sent back, but tried it anyway.  Had a nice variety of scones, cream of mushroom soup, finger sandwiches, a salad and fresh fruit and lemon tea cakes to finish the 2 ½ hours off…  I thought the atmosphere was fantastic and of course the company was fantastic…  We sure have a special group of women…   Thanks Jan for setting this up….

If you were not able to make it to this event..  We are planning something a little different for Saturday, March 29th.  A sort of cooking class.  We will all gather at Pat Malley’s home at 11:00 AM and this time we are going to learn how to make Crème Brule.    There will be soup from Lynn Landers.  Sandwiches from Cheryl Cartwright and the course in Crème Brule from Debbie Miller…..

If you have a special talent or know how to make something and want to share your knowledge, just let me or Pat Malley know and we will work it in somewhere either this time, or next cooking class…..

A craft day would be fun also.  If you quilt, knit, crochet, sew, scrap book or have a craft that you love and want to share, please let me or Pat Malley know.  There might be room out there for a craft day somewhere in 2008….
